Shining Dawn is located just 15 miles from Gettysburg in the quiet peaceful borough of Hanover Pennsylvania. We are on one of the main roads where Union Forces under Generals Kilpatrick, Farnsworth and Custer clashed with Confederate General J.E.B. Stuart's Calvary during the Battle of Hanover on June 30, 1863.
Although the Battle of Hanover was inconclusive, some historians believe that it delayed JEB Stuart's arrival at Gettysburg and effectively blinded General Lee during the critical opening two days of the Battle of Gettysburg.
